Of cord and cassia-wood

Xuefei makes a welcome return with a programme celebrating the ancient musical traditions of China - contrasting with the European traditions of Spain and the German baroque.

Exploring this fascinating repertoire from the Orient on the plucked strings of the classical guitar, Xuefei will take us on a musical journey which covers over 2,000 years and a myriad of instruments from the Chinese zither to the pipa. As Britten quoted in his cycle, Songs from the Chinese, “Of cord and cassia-wood is the lute compounded; Within it lie ancient melodies.”

From The SOLO Classical Guitar Ensemble

The SOLO Classical Guitar Ensemble are pleased to tell you that we are sponsoring and hosting another guitar concert on the
6 June 2019.
We would like to invite you - it features the fantastic Swedish musician Marten Falk - tickets are limited for this parlour concert so please contact me as soon as possible. Payment can be made as the previous concert.

Marten Falk will be performing neglected masterpieces from the romantic Russian 19th century repertoire for the Russian seven string guitar, tuned in thirds. This large repertoire, consisting of several thousand pieces, is of a fantastic quality, but most of it has not been performed for 150 years. Falk will be playing on an original guitar built in Russia in the 1860s.

Best wishes

From Andrew Clegg

I am pleased to announce that I have released a new album for 2018.
The new album is called 'Anyday, Now.......Everyday!' and it is a collaboration between English composer Peter Byrom-Smith and Japanese composer Nobuya Monta and I had the pleasure of performing this wonderful modern classical music. The music is a side step from my Latin music, as I am going back to my classical roots for this project!
The album will be reviewed in various music publications and will be played on the radio too, but you can get a copy first!

The album is available to listen to and download from the follow link. You can also order a Cd version (£10) -

Over 2018 I will be writing new music for another album of original Latin music.

I wish you all well for 2018 and many thanks for your time.
